BALL AND CHAIN

As Turn Bowl's first attempt at jewelry this piece is a smashing success! Whittled from a single piece of pine, what once was a stick is now a chain! Whittling is a patient and detailed craft and I'm not sure that the work gets any more complicated than when one attempts to carve a chain. The trick is to separate each link carefully so as to maintain the chain and to avoid breaking the links themselves. Upon success, the joy lies in having turned something so straight and rigid as a stick into something as flexible and FUNctional as a necklace! Combined with a long, stainless steel ball chain this necklace can be worn in as many ways as you can imagine!

For example: To display the strength of the pine chain itself, loop the ball chain through both the beginning and ending links, close the clasp and wear. For a sculptural ball of tangled chain, feed the ball chain through every pine link, close the clasp and wear allowing gravity to shape the necklace. 

Finished with a food and skin safe Danish Oil by Tried & True this necklace will have you feeling as good as you look!
